Damien Murtagh

Behavior Analyst
M.Ed, BCBA, LBA

Originally from Northern Ireland, Damien has worked with individuals with intellectual disabilities for over 25 years in a variety of settings.  He began his experience in leisure and recreation settings as a Program Director in special needs summer camps, before becoming a special education teacher for children with autism in central Virginia. Damien later became the school division autism specialist and acquired his BCBA in 2011. Soon after, he became the first Director of the Lynchburg campus of Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center which was founded to meet the increasing need for high quality ABA service provision for individuals with autism. This center merged with VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment in 2022, and he spent 14 years dedicated to the families and staff served by those programs in Lynchburg. Damien loves remaining active in his local community, volunteering in areas he is passionate about, such as small-scale farming and coaching local sports.
